Overview
Economic Development is:
“The process of improving the economic health of a city, region or the state by bringing together its assets, resources and political action into a strategy to bring wealth and prosperity to that area.”
The goals of our economic development program are business retention and business recruitment.
Our business goals include:
- Economic prosperity
- Economic opportunity
- Economic security
- Population stability
- Personnel capabilities
- Environmental integrity and
- Quality of life Includes various intangible factors which make a city attractive and desirable to live, work or invest in.
New business will be attracted to the city with the most appropriate combination of features and existing business will expand for the same reasons.
Some of the activities that are currently in place to encourage economic development are:
- Support of the new Team Volusia
- Executive Leadership Council
- Tradeshow Participation
- Cooperation with other municipalities
Our economic development goals are in alignment with the City’s goals and reflect our local culture. They are a direct connection to the basic concerns and aspirations of our citizens.
