On August 28, 2018, Holly Hill electors approved two amendments to the City Charter:
✅ Repeal of the Civil Service Act
✅ Implementation of four-year staggered terms for elected officials

How Staggered Terms Will Work:

  • 2020 Election: The Mayor, Commissioner District 1, and Commissioner District 3 will be elected to 4-year terms. Commissioner District 2 and Commissioner District 4 will be elected to 2-year terms.

  • 2022 Election: Commissioner District 2 and Commissioner District 4 will then move to 4-year terms, establishing the staggered cycle moving forward.

Ordinance 3012 below repeals the Civil Service Act in its entirety and formally establishes staggered four-year terms for Holly Hill elected officials.
