Our Patrol Division is dedicated to providing around-the-clock preventive and directed patrols of residential and commercial areas of the city and responds to over 26,000 calls for service annually.
Each of our officers are certified by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission and are required to complete an extensive selection process and background investigation – which includes a polygraph examination and psychological suitability screening – before obtaining employment with our agency. Once hired, our officers must successfully complete a full 12-month probationary period which includes a Field Training and Evaluation program designed to test the new officer’s ability to adapt to the rigors of police work.
These highly trained and expertly skilled men and women are an integral part of our community and they work very hard to provide a highly visible and very accessible service to our citizens.
All patrol units are fully equipped with tactical and personal protective equipment which allow our officers to rapidly respond to emergency situations. In addition to handling calls-for-service, our patrol officers have responsibility for maintaining traffic safety, investigating accidents, and providing a safe and secure environment for our residents and visitors.
