Volunteers in Police Service

The Volunteers in Police Service (V.I.P.S.) program allows citizens to serve their community by assisting the police department. These dedicated volunteers begin their service by completing a 40-hour in-house training program which includes instruction on police procedures, patrol operations, investigations, emergency communications, and the law.

In addition to providing administrative assistance in the Police Department, V.I.P.S. patrol in their assigned marked vehicles. They report suspicious activity within the community, conduct house checksĀ for vacationing residents, assist patrol officers with traffic control, and assist with special events such as Coffee with a Cop, SADY-Self Defense Class, Movies with a Cop, National Night Out, Neighborhood Watch Meetings, Shop with a Cop, minimal report writing, as well as, other duties.

The V.I.P.S. program is the essence of Community Oriented Policing, and we're very proud to have these dedicated volunteers serving our agency. We offer flexible hours, administrative task positions, and ride-long and ongoing volunteer hands-on training.

Upon completing their required training, they will receive uniforms, equipment, and personal identification. Meetings are held monthly from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Holly Hill Police Department.
